Trauma insurance: which conditions are covered?

Trauma insurance (also called critical illness cover) pays a lump sum on diagnosis of a listed medical condition.

Commonly covered conditions

  • Cancer of a specified severity
  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Coronary artery bypass surgery
  • Major organ transplant

Why the definitions matter

Each condition has a precise medical definition in the PDS. Two policies may both "cover cancer" but define the required severity differently, which affects whether a claim is paid.

Check both the list of conditions and the exact definition of each in the relevant PDS.

You can download trauma PDS documents from our library to compare covered conditions side by side.
